FIDM Graduation

Dress: Free People Slip: Free People Shoes: Free People

Holy cow. Last Monday was a dream come true! I technically finished college in September (see that post here) but I was finally able to walk on the 22nd. Our ceremony was at the Staples center (!!) and it was quite the experience. My immediate family, and three of my best friends came to watch me and cheer me on. I've never felt so loved!

Funny story: Britt brought me these cute 2015 balloons, and we it was quite the task attempting to take a picture immediately after graduation with the wind and mass amount of people. We carried them with us to the bar down the street, handed them off to my sister, and went about saying hello to everyone. I went to go grab them, and realized the 0 flew away...insert sad face! Nonetheless, I loved those bad boys and let them float in my room for about 5 days (sans the zero), until they completely deflated.

I've been working now for almost 8 months, pretty much nonstop since September, and I would't have it any other way! Ok that's a lie, I would't mind living on a beach somewhere with a cocktail in my hand, but that's neither here nor there...I will forever be grateful for my time at FIDM, and all of the amazing and wonderful people I have met along the way!

San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon | 5.31.15

Thursday, June 25, 2015

Holy smokes has it really been 6 whole months since my last post?! Part of me feels like it was only last week, but then again SO much has happened. I'm not quite sure where to even start, so I'll just jump right in and see where this ends up...

Way back at the beginning of the year I started to really focus on bettering myself. I've always loved working out, but would too often find myself lacking motivation to eat healthy and stay committed. One of my best friends suggested we start running, and I jumped on board almost immediately. Is it just me, or is it way easier to commit to something when you have a friend along on the ride? Sometime soon after we decided to up the anty and train for a marathon, and guess what? We did it! I RAN A MARATHON! I honestly could cry right this very second thinking about the roller coaster ride that is training to run 26.2 miles. I read somewhere that running a marathon is the closest your body can get to having a heart attack, without actually having one, so there's that...It was by far the most rewarding, tiring, physically and emotionally draining, painful, euphoric, and exhausting thing I have ever done.

One day I will have to do an entire post on all the things no one tells you about training for a marathon. Think loosing toenails and buying 3 pairs of different shoes...but until then, here are a few pics and a that little video above I made to better show you what it was like!

We decided to make the trip to San Diego a weekend long getaway! We stayed at the Hard Rock and ventured into Gaslamp on Friday night for a little girls night. It was just what the doctor ordered after 20 intense weeks of training.

We spent almost all day Saturday lounging around watching movies. We wanted to save up our energy for Sunday. I may or may not have napped 3 different times...My body just somehow knew what it was in for I guess.

We woke up Sunday at 3:45 a.m. (!!) and made our way to the starting line. After a few silent prayers and a good luck hug from my momma, we were off!

It is honestly hard to put into words how amazing it feels to cross the finish line after running for 5 hours straight. Once we saw the finish line, we started sprinting and bawling simultaneously. I wasn't expecting to feel so emotional, but I was too tired to care.

Hopefully that wasn't too long or sappy for you ;) I feel like I can conquer the world now!

Christmas 2014

Sunday, December 28, 2014

Christmas this year was fantastic. My favorite part of the holiday season these past three years has been seeing my niece's eyes light up when she sees santa, saying thank you before EACH gift she opens (that's new this year), and just soaking up my friends and families presence (although that's every year!)
Quinn got a brand new bike! She must've been on Santa's nice list this year!
Then it was off to our annual Christmas Eve party!

Life is pretty great, isn't it? I can get so caught up with my own personal drama, that I sometimes forget to remember the bigger picture. I am SO blessed. I have a loving family, stable job, healthy body, and great friends. In 2015 I plan on focusing on all of that, rather than letting the bad get me down! I hope you have all had a great holiday season (excluding new years this week ekk!). xo

A Little Catch Up

Monday, November 17, 2014

Oh hi. I know, I know. It has been too long since I last blogged, but I have good reason. I got a job! Well, kind of. I have been working "permalance" for a couple weeks now. Confused? I was when I heard the word at first too, but it's such a fun made up word, don't you think? It basically means I am working as an in house freelance graphic designer, and for a great company to boot! While it may not be "permanent" as much as it is freelance, I am enjoying every minute of it. Getting paid to be creative daily is literally a dream come true.

On another creative note, I launched my website! I know you're probably thinking, "Isn't THIS your website?" Well, I'm glad you asked. No, no it is not. THIS is my website. It hold my graphic design portfolio, including some of my favorite work. Here's a peek:

Go take a look around and please let me know what you think! Many hours were spent perfecting the pieces you will find on there, as well as designing and editing the actual website (Squarespace FTW).

Remember when I dressed up as a black cat on Halloween to match my three year old niece? Of course you don't, because I forgot to blog about it...Here's proof:

Quinn was a little overwhelmed by all of the festivities, to say the least. Who can blame the girl though? People dressed up as weird animals and frozen characters. I was a little spooked myself ;)

Have a great week! I swear I'll be back sooner than later xo

My Favorite Color is October

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

I swear it was just last October like yesterday. This year has flown by! Last year around this time my family headed to the pumpkin patch (see that here!), but this year I went with some of my girlfriends. We chatted, took way too many pictures, and grabbed a few pumpkins to decorate before Halloween rolls around. Early Fall in Southern California is my favorite! There's just something about cooler weather that makes me happy.

Last nigh my cousin took me to see BANKS for a belated birthday/graduation celebration. It was everything I hoped for and more. She is AMAZING live! Also, on that note, thank you all for the birthday well wishes! Loving 23 so far :) Happy Wednesday xo

Twenty Three

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Saturday was my twenty third birthday, and with it came a bunch of mixed emotions. On the one hand, I love birthdays and all that comes with getting older! Aside from celebrating what I hope to be a brand new year full of great things, I usually reflect on all that has happened during my previous year of life, in this case my twenty second.

While I am able to check a few things off of my life's "to do" list, like graduating college, this has been a year chalk full of emotional, hard events. I AM hopeful that things for me, and my friends and family, will continue to progress. As daunting as it is to try and figure out what's next for me (you must know by now that I don't do well with the unknown) I finally feel like I am headed in the right direction, and for that very reason I know this year will be my best one yet!

On my actual birthday, my best friends mom was having a 50th birthday party, so I joined in and it was so fun! Plus, a lot of the people I love were there to celebrate too, so it was a win win!

A few days before my birthday is when the real celebrating took place. I went to brunch at The Ivy (so delicious, SO expensive!) with one of my best friends from FIDM. We chatted and also celebrated her 22 birthday. Just a wee baby, that one.

On Friday, the night before my birthday, and also my moms birthday, (have I lost you yet? I have no idea why I've decided to go over these events so out of order, but it was my birthday after all, so I do what I want) my oldest sister took me to sushi and Lost The Musical. I wasn't an avid watcher of the show when it aired, but the play was so funny! If you're able to catch the show, I highly recommend you do so.

I am so ready to have the best year. I have so many good things happening with job leads that I am extremely optimistic! Happy mid October everyone xx T
