Workin' For the Weekend

With less than a week left of school till graduation, (holy crap!) I've been trying
to make the most of my weekends. This includes, but is not limited to the
following (thank you iphone for capturing the not so great quality memories):

Celebrating the 22nd birthday of one of my best friends. Love you Kass!
(Mikoh swimsuit top & bottom / Raybans)

Seeing Jesse McCartney at the House of Blues.
(My inner tween was giddy with excitement)
(Free People hat)

Spending time with my best friend of a cousin, getting fit & stuff.
side note: why are all of my favorite people drop dead gorgeous?! It can give a girl complex man...

And my most favorite of ALL pastimes, watching this stinker grow
up! That includes starting preschool. I don't even want to talk about how
beautiful she is. I'm only slightly jealous of her blonde hair, killer athleticism
and hilarious personality...I'd like to think I possess at least one of those
badass traits. I'll let you guys decide which ;)

While it may very well look like I have a huge social calendar, I assure you
I have been at school working on my portfolio more than anything else. And you
know what? I don't mind one bit! I've had a post in my drafts about graduating
sitting, begging to be completed. I will have something for you to read (if you fancy)
next week regarding my many (mixed) emotions on the subject.

Have a great weekend!

Free People Kaftan

dress & hat : Free People, booties: Sam Edelman (in brown)

Guys, this dress is everything that is perfect in this world. It is so light weight, can double as a swim coverup, and will be the easiest piece to transition from Summer to Fall. Plus, it's now on sale for $ wtf I definitely did not buy it for that cheap. Snag one here. Also, I've been super into hats lately. There's something so empowering about being able to throw on a hat and still feel fashionable. Well, that plus I didn't wash my hair that day, so there's that. On another note (man I'm feeling extra chatty today) it has been extremely hot in L.A. and not just "hot for California", like really really hot. Can't say I mind, yet I do have a horrible sunburn covering my entire upper body. Guess it will be all short sleeve shirts for me for a little ;) Happy Hump day!

Playing Catch(up)

Ok, I lied. This update was going to go up last Monday, but school has been hectic! So here it
is in all its glory! I am always updating my instagram, so follow me there. If you want to...I
mean, I think I'm pretty cool, so there's that ;) Follow me here: @torib

This is throwing it WAY back, but this year for the fourth of July
I headed to Paradise Cove and celebrated with my friends. It was
relaxing, and just what the doctor ordered.

My cousin's baby turned one! Unfortunately, by the time I pulled out my
camera she was snoozing away, but here's her big brother (the blondie),
another cousin's little babe, and the cutest cupcake pinata there ever was. I
am SO baby hungry, but what else is new?

This may not seem like a big deal to most, but I chopped tons
of my hair off! (which you would've known from my previous post,
but this is my blog remember!) I always felt like my long hair was sort of
my security blanket, so it felt quite freeing to cut off more than 5 inches. I'm
embracing this short 'do and l-o-v-i-n-g the shorter primp time.

Ok enough of this little picture catch up. I am starting my fourth week of my ten week quarter this week. I can't believe this chapter of my life will soon be ending. It still blows my mind. I've traveled from L.A. to Kansas (barely!) to Long Beach and wound up right back in L.A. It's true what they say 'everything happens for a reason'. I think I'm finally starting to's only taken me twenty two years HA Hope you have a great week! xo

Ice Cream Forever

top: Wildfox | shorts: Hudson | glasses: Ray Ban

Summer is just the greatest, isn't it? There's noting better than tanning, swimming, barbeques, late nights, even later mornings, the beach...I could go on, but I'm almost 100 percent sure everyone feels the same as I do. There's just one tiny little difference between you and I. I just started my last quarter of school at FIDM! ( I kept saying last quarter of school ever, but If I do want to go back and get my Bachelor's degree in business somewhere new, I don't want to be held accountable for the things I may have earlier said ;)) I am beyond excited, nervous, anxious, happy, worried, mentally exhausted and every other emotion all wrapped into one. So that's where I am right now. I plan on doing another longer catch up post (those are so annoying i know!) on Monday, so if you care at all about what it is I've been up to, stay tuned :) Until then, Happy Saturday! I hope you are all having a fantastic July.

Graduation Season

dress: Nasty Gal // boots: Urban Outfitters

My best friend recently graduated from Oregon State, and we celebrated with a fun party on Saturday. After sipping mimosas and taking silly pictures, we were all beat. Day drinking isn't as easy at 22 ;) Instead of heading out to Hollywood like we had originally planned, we laid in bed reminiscing of the past five years (#ragers). Regardless, I am so proud of you Britt! Now I really feel like it's time for me to be done. September can't come soon enough (but really I am terrified of it ending, just don't tell). I can't imagine going through this crazy life with any other friend by my side. Here's to the future (I know it will be bright for you!)

Father's Day 2014

This year we decided to head to Griffith Park as a fam and celebrate the wonder man that my dad is. My oldest sister snuck away for a much needed vacay, so we got Quinnie for the day and decided to let her cause some trouble on the ponies. My dad is one of the most selfless human beings I've ever met, and I'm more than blessed to call him my own. He (and my beautiful momma) put others above themselves 100 percent of the time, and I can only hope to be half of the person and parents they are!
(We went last year around this time of year, and it's crazy to see how much bigger Q has gotten! See that here.)

There are quite a few photos, so click through to see the rest if you'd like to!

for posterity's sake

I should probably start with where I've been or what exactly I've been up to over here in the real world, but I'm not going to do that. You see, I'm a rule breaker. So instead I'm going to dump (I LOATHE that word) a bunch of non-related pictures into this post so that one day I'll be able to look back and see what the hell I was up to in April/May/June/ when I was 22...

My big sister is the best mommy. I love that Mother's Day now means celebrating both she and my momma. Both of them are great examples of what it means to put another person before yourself. And they're knockouts, so that doesn't hurt either.
One of my best friends from Long Beach just graduated! I couldn't be more proud. We started out playing soccer as mini freshman 4 years ago, and we've both come a long way. She's done with school, I'm done in September. She's engaged, I'm not...the list goes on. But I'm still one super proud best friend! :)
School is done for the quarter in 6 days. I then have a nice little 2.5 week break and then start my last quarter of school. EVER! Well maybe not ever. I'm trying to decide if I want to do the whole Bachelor's degree thing. Only time will tell. Some of my best friends are done with school this quarter, and I sure will be sad to see them go!
With Summer right around the corner, I've been trying my best to get back into bikini shape. Let's be real here for a moment. It's HARD work! I'm not one of those girls who has the luxury of being able to eat what I want when I want to (although that was the case for the first 20 years of my life. a middle finger up to you metabolism). Balance has always been a huge problem for me. Trying to find balance in all aspects of my life really. I need to learn how to find the balance between a healthy lifestyle, working out, eating right, and the occasional splurge. I need to find balance with my personal life and school. Netflix and homework. In all aspects really. Admitting you have a problem is the first step right? Ok cool.

I hope this wasn't a complete bore. I remember when this blog used to be more of a place for me to share little snippets of my daily life, and I think I would really like to make my way back to that place. I hope you'll stick around. (Hi Rachel and Rebecca if you're reading this ;))
